Return...

I'm back from France via Spurgeon's college.

The weekend in France was great other than the abysmal rugby England played! The great thing was all us Brits wandering around with our England Rugby tops with a smattering of club tops, many with scarves, hats and blow-up Roses as well. We were proud to be English, especially in France (though as they had lost to Argentena the night before we were circumspect!)

We wanted to be indentified as English, to stand out from the rest (the USA don't quite understand how to do this as one guy admitted to us), to wear our uniforms, to sing our songs at the top of our voices. We were proud and unafraid...

Would that Christians were unafraid to stand out from the crowd, to be resident aliens, to show in all we say and do that we have something worth having and be proud to be know as Christ's....

As for the return to college..it it always good to be back there, I do miss the people and the theological stretching...
The conference was excellent (see Andy's website for a good review of the content) I must confess I realised how much I have forgotten or never knew in the first place and it has renewed my decision to go back to doctine books when my broader reading for probation is over. I was re-enthused at the need for minister to study and know deeply but then convey it simply to others.
